COOLANGATTA TO BRISBANE 30th April, 2019. BRISBANE TO TOOWOOMBA. 1st May, 2019.

30th APRIL

Ron and Viv drove us up to Varsity Lakes which took about 20 minutes. Didn't have to wait long as  there was a train waiting and was going to leave in 4 mins which was good timing. Thanks R & V  for the drop off and everything else you both did for us over the last three days.

On board  lots of carriages and hardly any passengers.

Took us  one hour 45mins to the International Airport as our Motel Novena Palms was a six min drive from there and our motorhome pickup was just 400m along the road. Settled into our motel and just relax all afternoon as nothing near us to go and see. After our lovely weather we had down at Coolangatta Brisbane decided to put the rain on for us ๐Ÿ˜

1st MAY.

What a day in a  bad way. Left the motel at 8.30am and went along the road about 400m to Apollo Rentals to pick up out campervan. So far all good although very busy so took an hour and half to do the paper work and van check and a lot of waiting around.  Finally got underway to drive to Toowoomba. A few issues with our old GPS which we used as we decided not to set up the company one until later. It got quite confused in some areas didn't regonise some of the newer motorways and finally took us to the wrong destination address. At this stage I got google maps going on my phone and arrive eventually. Before we checked in did a big shop at Coles and went to the camping ground Toowoomba Carvan Village. Set ourselves up  but that's not all. Several kilometres before we reached Toowoomba things started to go wrong with the van so spent most of the afternoon on the phone getting someone out to look at it. Someone arrived fairly quickly but he was told he had to charge a battery but no it was a lot more than that so don't know where he got that message from. We are exhausted trying to sort this and out unpack everything. Peter will now take over and try and explain as brief as possible the real issue we had. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
PT here....Yes the car kept stopping after we had slowed down. The motor kept going but there was no forward motion. The chap that came suggested that it was an electrical issue to do with the gearbox as it is automatic. We have to take it down to the Fiat dealer tomorrow morning at 7am for a check out. That early in case it stops or slows down again before the morning rush. Don't want to be in rush hour although the guy told us every hour is rush hour in Toowoomba very big busy place. Also the fridge had decided not to work off the mains power but only on gas.And also several of the internal plugs aren't working which could have some bearing on the gearbox issue. Will keep you all posted tomorrow. Cheers.
Me again (JT) it was awful when the van lost power once in the middle of the traffic lights but fortunately could roll around the corner then we just stopped. And the fridge wouldn't work on power after I filled it with all the shopping fortunately a fellow camper came over and suggested switching it to gas as it is a three way fridge battery, power or gas. It seems to be cooling now. ๐Ÿคž
No photos,  no walk around the pretty lake across the reserve from the camp. Hopefully once we get the van sorted tomorrow we might get a walk as we allowed two nights here to get used to everything.
Now just found out the microwave isn't working either!!!!!  We need you here Richard to sort out the electricals  ๐Ÿค”
Hopefully we will get a good nights sleep and get sorted tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜ด
