CAPE PALMERSTON To EMU PARK 24th May, 2019

Left Cape Palmerston at 7.45am lovely peaceful spot. Perfect to have a break from driving for a night. We were heading down to Emu Park which is about 40k east out to the coast from Rockhampton. Instead of going out directly from Rockhampton we turned off about 15k north of the city to go out to the coast via Neppoon really nice town on the coast. We had a good drive round there including going out to the boat harbour before driving south down the coast for about 15mins where we arrived at Emu Park staying at Fisherman's  Beach Holiday Park right on the beach. Another superb place with its own little town. We decided that we would stay here for two nights which will be good. Another catch up day for washing. When we leave here we will go back on another road directly to Rockhampton making it a loop road going out to the coast and back through Rockhampton.

Before we left Cape Palmerston this morning these birds decided to join us for breakfast.

We had just driven out of camp when we saw this family of kangaroos playing in the fields. They are really camouflage in the colour of the grass. They get quite a snooty look when they stand up on their hind legs looking at you.

This is a big male probably just short of 6ft. Standing up to make himself look bigger in his on guard position ready to attack if we upset him.

The big male on the far left. Very protective of his family.

Now on the road again on the A1. Going through Koala land which went for 20k.

After a couple of hours driving south we turned off at Marlborough a very small town 1k off the highway. Why we went down there was because when I was doing my research on places to stay, I thought this would be somewhere different for one of these free camping areas just for the night when wanting to cover a couple of days with bigger mileage.   It didn't quite work as we wanted to get to Emu Park tonight. It's interesting to go off to these small towns as you don't drive through them on the highway. In this photo you can't see much of the pub due to the sun behind, and yes Adam T just another Pub!!. Just wanted to explain to the left of the pub, which a lot of the small pubs, especially in the outback do let campers stay in behind their pubs on the flat lawn for free unless you want power for $10. They are then hoping that you come in for a meal and a couple of drinks. We haven't tried one of these deals yet as we  always use the camping parks. This is the total Main Street. Fun to drive round the town with just a pub, post office, a store, school and a few little houses. Love this part of getting off the main roads.

One of the little homes, but they all have lovely colourful flowering shrubs and very tidy.

The post office.

Another home very pretty.

Back to being on the road again.

After turning off 15k north of Rockhampton we where now heading for Jeppoon about 40k to the coast. PT liked this hill so had to take a photo. And no that's not our camper.

Drove through town, really nice area, then out to the boat harbour. Walked out to this little area on the coast. Very rocky. But looks good.

Boat harbour side of the above rock.

Looking over to the boats in the marina. In the foreground the fishing boats.

Looking along the fishing boats. That same rock in the back ground. There was a fish shop on the wharf selling the fresh fish that's come in and guess what I had to go and get, a feed of prawns for lunch. Yum....

Now just leaving Jeppoon after driving through the town, this is their beach, cafe area really nicely done all neat and tidy.

What we saw of this town and beach we were very impressed with the area and certainly worth coming out to the coast to see.

Just left now on the coast road to Emu Beach. What about this if you want to cover your concrete wall, really attractive.

Looking back along Jeppoon Beach

Driving down the coast to Emu Park. Arriving at Fishermans Beach Holiday Park at about 1.00pm . Settled in and just relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. Looking forward in exploring this small town tomorrow as we are having two nights here.
