We left this morning to drive over to the other side of the Tweed River. We stopped at this quaint little cafe for a coffee at a place called Fingal.
PT, me, Ron and Viv
After coffee continued out to the Lighthouse. I have a fascination of lighthouses so it was a must see even though it was very small.
Continued around the point to admire the great outlooks. Stood watching the waves crashing onto the rocks. Quite wild out there. Looking out to Cook Island. (Named by Capt Cook).
A little further around the corner looking more to the north we could see this magnificent beach stretching up to South Head entrance to the Tweed River.
Turning around looking back through the trees to Cook Island.
Walking down away from the lighthouse we branched off on a track taking us down along Dreamline beach on the windward and southern side of the point.
Came back to the Ron and Viv's place and walked down to have another prawn lunch in walking distance from their house. On the way back stopped at the reserve opposite their house and looked over the waterways. Their house is the one on the right of the little boat on the other side that's sitting up on the beach. A beautiful setting.
After lunch Viv and I left the guys at home and we went out to explored the area from Rainbow Bay (above).
Peter and I had a holiday here many years ago and really enjoyed this area.
Now walking around the walkways to the next little bay called Froggy Bay hence the green frog which has been painted up on one of the rocks. Pretty little spot.
Above and below we spend some time watching the waves crashing onto the rocks at Snapper Bay.
Still standing at Snapper Bay looking back at Rainbow Bay and Coolangatta in the distance.
Walked up behind to Point Danger looking down over Duranbah aka to the locals as D'bah a famous surfing beach although it was fairly calm today. At the southern end of the beach is the entrance to the Tweed River.
Walking out on the rock wall that is built at the southern end of D'bah to the entrance of the Tweed River. I loved the colours in the white rocks which would make great blocks for a house.
Walking back along the wall we looked across to where the surfers were hoping to catch that big wave.
On the other side of the rock wall looking back down the river entrance back to town. This morning when we were over on the light house side of the river we were heading for this little beach on the left but after driving a few minutes on a very rough unsealed road we decided not to continue as it was only suitable for a four wheel drive car. Dave this picture is for you as you know the area well.
Now we have driven up Kirra Hill Lookout looking over Coolangatta beach. Looking the other way would be Kirra Beach which is the closest beach to Ron and Viv's in walking distance.
Viv and I had arrived home from a very enjoyable tour of the area. I really enjoyed it. We are standing on their back balcony waiting to go out for dinner.
We then got back into the car with the boys (our husbands) and went back to Kirra beach to the lifesaving club for dinner which was very enjoyable. The club is just right of this above photo.
Sitting in the club rooms at our table looking out just before the sun went down. Lovely atmosphere.
Tomorrow we will be leaving Ron and Viv 😢 after a very enjoyable stay and catch up. Plenty of talking was done. They will take us to the railway station at Varsity Lakes, in the morning to catch the train up to Brisbane International airport. We will have to grab a taxi to our motel in Northgate which is nearby our pickup for our motorvan on May 1st. We will then start our tour around Queensland. Watch this space!!!
